Level II Metalsmithing for Jewelers with Chris Weston

CLASS DESCRIPTION
This class will introduce intermediate jewelry making techniques essential for creative expression. Included are basic fold-forming, texturing metal, making and using a plexiglass forming die, foolproof hinge making, and a really cool sawn and bent pin mechanism.
Class samples/project may include basic copper fold-formed and textured samples, plexi silhouette die and copper die-formed samples, copper and silver hinge sample, tab pinback mechanism sample Culminating final project: copper fold-formed, die-formed, and hinged locket or brooch with tab pinback mechanism.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Chris has spend 20 years studying jewelry fabrication. and has an A.A.S. in Professional Crafts: Jewelry. He's taught a variety of workshops in granulation, mechanisms, fold forming, marriage of metals, nature as design inspiration, glass fusing for jewelry, riveting, hydraulic die forming and PMC.
Tools students need to bring
Materials Kit* $30
*Materials kit purchase is required for all BoMA workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials require to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 6. Students will be required to sign a waiver. Participants must be 18 or older.

- magnifying glasses or optivisor
- shop apron
- pendant design ideas
- solder: easy, medium and hard
- cash or a check made out to Chris for the materials kit*

- 22 gauge copper sheet
- silver tubing
- silver wire

- You may cancel up to 10 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $10 processing.
- Cancellations 5-10 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund.
- Cancellations occurring less than 5 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded,
- In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
