Class Description
In this two day class, Daniel will guide you through the steps and techniques required to build that design lurking in the back of your mind. What have you always wanted to make?

Student will submit their design to Daniel in advance of the workshop to insure he has the expertise to guide the project and there's enough time to complete the project.

Prerequisites
Students should be familiar with soldering, using a jewelers saw, have experience with the flex shaft and have completed at least one basic metalsmithing class.

Materials Kit*
Dependent on designs submitted by students.
*Materials kit purchase is required for all our workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials required to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.

Students should bring

Students will not need to bring any of their own tools unless they have a personal preference. Recommend that students bring a three ring binder for standard 8 ½ x 11 paper for course instruction materials.

About the Instructor
I am a second generation silversmith who studied first under my mother, Melanie Kline, and then under my brother, Josh Kline. I was trained in the “old style,” meaning that I learned through a very traditional apprenticeship structure (ie. Only allowed to polish for a month before learning the next skill). I’ve picked up a million sayings that can applied in a workroom, but one of my favorites is “jewelry is about the details.” In all of my classes, we will focus not just on the how of a technique, but also of the why. Understanding more about how metals behave as well as the not-so-obvious functions of different tools, will allow every student to take their work to another level and create the little details that enhance. I believe that class should be inspiring, engaging, supportive, fun, and, of course, extremely educational. I’ll never take a project out of your hands to finish it for you. When we’re done, you’ll know that every piece you finish was the result of your own hard work.

Maximum Six students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver. Participants must be 18 or older.
