Control The Melt: Fused Filings
with Roger Rimel

Class Description
Create a patterned surface by fusing silver and gold filings to copper and silver sheet. You will fabricate earrings or neckpiece using our fused sheets. Through experimenting with fused surfaces, you will make a palette of samples as you refine your technique.

Prerequisites
Basic metalsmithing and soldering skills

About the Instructor
Roger Rimel has been a goldsmith and jewelry designer for over 30 years.  He  exhibits his jewelry locally and nationally, teaches workshops, and maintains a studio in St. Louis, Missouri. His work is represented in numerous galleries.

Tools and Equipment Students Should Bring
  • pliers 
  • files 
  • drill bits 
  • burrs
  • emery stick/paper,
  • Silver solder (sheet or strip)
  • hand files
  • needle files
  • saw blades/frame
  • ball pean hammer
  • mallet
  • Cash or check made out for $95 to Roger Rimel for materials kit*

Materials kit* $95
  • 18 ga. ss wire 12"
  • 3x3"/20 ga. ss sheet
  • copper sheet, same size
  • 18k gold square stock, 1dwt
*Materials kit purchase is required for all BoMA workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials require to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.


MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 10. Students will be required to sign a waiver. Participants must be 18 or older.


CANCELLATION POLICY
  • You may cancel up to 45 days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $25 processing.
  • Cancellations less than 45 days prior to the start date will not be refunded,
  • In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
  • Registration is not transferrable. You may not sell your seat to another student.​​
