Invisible Clasp

CLASS DESCRIPTION
​Learn to create a hidden clasp with a safety catch for a necklace or bracelet that can be quite showy as part of a main element or a simple design that can be used to connect a piece together. This is a two day class on Saturday and Sunday, November 2 & 3, 2019.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Michele Throne makes her living as a full-time metalsmith and jeweler. She has a BFA from Florida State University and in a previous life, was a Montessori art specialist and teacher. Michele lives in the mountains and her work is inspired by nature and the human experience. To see Michele's work, visit her website, Sidhe Designs.

​PREREQUISITES
Students must be proficient at soldering and sawing.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:
  • Materials are provided only for the clasp. If you would like to bring extra for other elements in your piece, you may do so, and incorporate them in class if you have extra time.
  • If you have a favorite size saw blade you like to use, or any other of your favorite tools feel free to bring those. Be sure to label your tools with your name! 
  • If you would like the clasp to include a stone, you will be responsible for bringing stone/s and bezel wire for setting. Odd shapes are ok, minimum 1/2” stone.

MATERIALS KIT (Instructor will provide for a fee) $45
  • sterling silver sheet in different gauges
  • silver round wire
  • silver rectangle wire
  • 3/0 and 8/0 saw blades
  • tubing
  • Solder 
  • sand paper
  • drill bits

Number of Seats
Maximum 8 students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.

CANCELLATION POLICY
  • You may cancel up to 14 days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $25 processing. To cancel, send an email to info@bouldermetalsmiths.com.
  • Cancellations less than 14 days prior to the start date will not be refunded.
  • In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
  • Registration is not transferrable. You may not sell your seat to another student.
  • If a class has multiple sessions, and you miss one, there is no make up opportunity and the instructor will not catch you up at the next class session. You may not join the next scheduled class session, as there’s a maximum number of students for every class and it’s not fair to the other students.
  • If you are late to a class, the instructor will not catch you up. There’s a structured curriculum for every class and its not fair to other students to skip part of the curriculum to catch up a student that’s late.
  • By clicking on the “I’m going” button and paying the registration fee, you are agreeing to this cancellation policy.
  • No Exceptions.
