Prong Setting with Colin Miller

Class Description
Prong setting, from the classic Tiffany setting, to the the most elaborate handmade free form stone capture, is a necessity for any well versed jeweler to have in his or her skill set. This class will familiarize students with the principles and practice of correct prong setting. 

Prerequisites
Basic familiarity with basic jewelry operations (soldering, filing, use of flexshaft, etc) is required.

Tools and Equipment (what you’ll want to bring)
Optivisor and/or loupe, if you have them. Your eyes will thank you.
$60 materials kit* fee (cash or check)
*Materials kit purchase is required for all our workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials required to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.

Pair of chain nose pliers
6mm round CZ's
A sterling ring
Several 6mm prong heads
A cup bur

About the Instructor
Colin Miller is a second generation jeweler who's worn many hats in the jewelry world, from apprentice to bench jeweler in retail, from independent studio jeweler to production jeweler for other artists. He hopes to share his wealth of experience with those yearning to express their creativity through wearable art, and to learn a thing or two himself.

Maximum six (6) students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver. Participants must be 18 or older.

Cancellation Policy
  • You may cancel up to 5 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $10 processing.
  • Cancellations 3-5 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund.
  • Cancellations occurring less than 3 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded,
  • In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
