The hydraulic press is one of the most versatile and powerful tools in the studio. In this class students will learn how to safely use the press for embossing, bracelet forming, with matrix dies and their variations, to bend heavy stock, and with blanking dies. We'll make our own matrix dies from Plexiglas, use the press to form beads and find out what the bending brake is good for..
Let the press do the heavy lifting. There are lots of different techniques and ways to form metal - let's play with the hydraulic press to learn the basics and some new techniques.
Learn how to use BoMA's Bonny Doon and Potter presses. You don't need one in your own studio - our presses are available to BoMA open studio members, learn how to sign up to use the studio. Or if you're considering buying a press, this workshop is a fantastic opportunity to try one out.
About the Instructor

- If a class has multiple sessions, and you miss one, there is no make up opportunity and the instructor will not catch you up at the next class session. You may not join the next scheduled class, as there’s a maximum number of students for every class and it’s not fair to the other students.
- Please plan extra time to find us if you’re coming to BoMA for the first time. If you are late to a class, the instructor will not catch you up. There’s a structured curriculum for every class and its not fair to other students to skip part of the curriculum to catch up a student who’s late.
