Circling the Possibilities
with Jessica Jordan Coté

Class Description
This one day class brings us to the end of our exploration as we move from the stylistically Neolithic to the Nouveau . Through the creation of an elaborately layered ring (or pendant), students will be pushed to ideate beyond the confines of the circle while still keeping it at the heart of their designs. The focus of the class will remain largely on heavy embellishment, soldering skills, and, most importantly, breaking away from viewing the humble circle as a simpleton in a highly designed world. Techniques covered will include design mapping, proper dapping/forming, sweat soldering, layering and embellishing, spiral ring bands
Prerequisites
students should have a basic knowledge of soldering and sawing
About the Instructor
A grauduate of North Carolina State University’s College of Design, Jessica has a bachelor’s degree in Art & Design as well as metals experience gleaned both at the John C.
