Enameling with Decals and Liquid Form Enamels
with Kirsten Denbow

Class Description
This workshop is an introduction to waterslide decals. Students will use both solid colors and printable decals to embellish copper enameled with liquid form enamels. We'll have plenty of time to make samples, finished pieces, or work to be set into jewelry later.
Prerequisites
None. Basic sawing, piercing, and finishing will be very helpful.
Students need to bring
dust mask
saw blades (#2 or #3)
apron
rag
scissors
variety of small hole punches (optional)
Scotchbrite pads
Because a special type of ink is required to print the decals, Kirsten will do so before the class and bring them. Each participant should send her one 8.5” x 11” sheet of images ONE WEEK prior to the workshop. Students may create a collage in word, publisher, illustrator, etc.. or just photocopy it. All images will fire to a sepia tone print. So, consider high contrast images that will read well as a one color image. Email to Kirsten. Subject “BoMA decal images”
Materials Kit $20* (provided by instructor)
copper
liquid enamels
brushes
various hole punches
enamel paints
solid decals
one 8.5”x11” printed decal sheet per person
*Materials kit purchase is required for all our workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials required to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.
