About the Instructor
Nan's art experience started years ago in New York. Growing up, she took frequent visits to NYC’s great museums and art galleries. When she was quite young her mother gave me a set of pastels, later oils, and taught Nan the basics of color.
Nan's interest in three-dimensional design led her to Travis Ogden’s metals class at Front Range Community College. After a semester at FRCC, she joined the Colorado Metalsmithing Association and continued her training through their workshops and conferences.
Nan was Chair of the Colorado Metalsmithing Association from 1998 through 2000, organized the yearly conference in Salida for 4 years, became the newsletter editor and organized the yearly all-members show. In 2002 she was the co-chair of the Society of North American Goldsmiths yearly conference held in Denver that year. In 2002, Nan was one of the founding members of the Mobil Metals program based at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado. The purpose of this program is to bring metalsmithing to Colorado high schools that do not offer fine art programs.
In addition to showing her work in Galleries throughout the United States, Nan participates in five or six invitational shows each year. One of her most interesting experiences was showing her work in Takayama, Japan and having the opportunity of traveling through Japan.
