Hydraulic Press with Richard Sweetman

Class Description
This workshop will cover forming dies and how to make them, basic press use and safety, and cutting dies and how to make them. Each technique will be followed by demonstrations and then hands-on with the press.
Students should have basic metalsmithing skills including soldering, forming, annealing and use of the jewelers' saw.
Tools and Equipment (what you’ll want to bring)
File - flat or half-round
Saw blades - 2/0 or 3/0
Silver solder - H/M/E
Sand paper - 220, 400 grit
Two sheets of metal , 6”x6” x 22 ga OR 6”x6” x 24 ga sterling silver, red brass or copper
Bring your favorite material/pattern for roller (lace, sandpaper, paper, texture plate, etc)
Materials Kit (what the instructor will provide)
Acrylic for dies, no charge
Pre-made dies will be for sale at $10 each
About the Instructor
Richard Sweetman has a degree from CSU and Univ. of Oregon. He taught at Arapahoe Community College for many years and now has a co-op studio in Denver. Richard teaches workshops at his studio and for other guilds. Richard also makes and sells the Shark Bite hydraulic press.
Maximum eight (8) students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.

- You may cancel up to 5 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $10 processing.
- Cancellations 3-5 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund.
- Cancellations occurring less than 3 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded,
- In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
