Hydraulic Press and Keum Boo with Argentium

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Keum boo adds beautiful high karat gold to your work at a minimal cost. Keum boo is a korean decorative appliqué technique in which pure gold foil is fused onto the surface of finished silver objects without the use of solder. It's a simple technique with dramatic results.
The hydraulic press is the fastest and most precise method for raising, chasing and die forming metals. Learn the basics of the hydraulic press to add dimensionality to your work.
If taking this class along with the Argentium Granulation workshop the previous day, additional tehcniques will be introduced to continue Saturday's project.
PREREQUISITES
Previous metalsmithing and Argentium experience recommended but not required.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jennifer was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. As is often the case, Jennifer did not begin her adult life as an artist. Her early roots began in chemistry and food science where she developed a love of creating art with food. Jennifer feels that her creative spark was truly ignited when she completed the graduate jeweler program at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts and apprenticed with a San Francisco area jewelry designer.

- Heavy leather gloves
- Agate or steel burnisher
- Small fine scissors and/or paper punches
- Argentium sheet to make at least one pair of earrings or two pendants (20/22/24 ga, 1" x 2")
- Optional: finished (no further soldering required) argentium jewelry ready for application of keum boo

- You may cancel up to 10 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $25 processing.
- Cancellations 5-10 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund.
- Cancellations occurring less than 5 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded,
- In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.
- Seats are not transferrable. You may not sell your seat to another student.
