Metal Play: Reticulation, Fusing & Metal Inlay
with Jennifer Knollenberg
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Texture and color on metal is the focus of this workshop. We'll use the torch and rolling mill to make new and exciting metal combinations and textures. Some of the featured techniques include reticulation, which produces ridged and rippling surfaces, fusing metals together without the use of solder, and inlay where metals are combined to have the appearance of being one uniform metal. These 'new' metals can be used to fabricate your own unique jewelry creations in class and beyond.
Students should be comfortable using a torch, know how to solder and have some experience with a rolling mill.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jennifer was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. As is often the case, Jennifer did not begin her adult life as an artist. Her early roots began in chemistry and food science where she developed a love of creating art with food. Jennifer feels that her creative spark was truly ignited when she completed the graduate jeweler program at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts and apprenticed with a San Francisco area jewelry designer.
