Metalsmithing Essentials for Jewelers II with Colin Miller

Class Description
This class is for the advanced beginner to intermediate smith who wants to build on their skills. This class will explore a number of ways to give volume, depth, contrast, and texture to your work.
Piercing, dapping, soldering, and bezel setting will be combined in a classic design exercise that will enhance the skill set of those that aren't brand new to the craft, but still feel their skills need refinement.
Prerequisites
Basic metal working skills (soldering, hammering, sawing, filing, etc) are required. A beginning class, and/or pertinent experience required.
Tools and Equipment (what you’ll want to bring)
Optivisor and/or loupe, if you have them. Your eyes will thank you.
$40 materials kit* fee (cash or check)
*Materials kit purchase is required for all our workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials required to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.
About the Instructor
Colin Miller is a second generation jeweler who's worn many hats in the jewelry world, from apprentice to bench jeweler in retail, from independent studio jeweler to production jeweler for other artists. He hopes to share his wealth of experience with those yearning to express their creativity through wearable art, and to learn a thing or two himself.
Maximum four (4) students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.
