BoMA is now an Approved Vaccine Verified Facility
Effective October 6, 2021, Boulder Metalsmithing Association (BoMA) has met the Boulder County Public Health requirement for an Approved Vaccine Verified Facility. Approved Fully Vaccinated Facilities and Events may allow individuals within the approved indoor public space to remove their masks.
Proof of Vaccination
BoMA requires proof of vaccination for all employees, students, instructors, members and guests upon entering the facility, and tracks the number of individuals to ensure that 95% of them are vaccinated. BoMA requires proof of vaccination to enter the facility or event with one of the following forms of documentation:
|
Boulder County Public Health does not require any business, facility, or event to retain any of the identified forms of proof of vaccination records as a condition of this program. BoMA will retain a written record, kept at the door, demonstrating compliance with our policy and program requirements. The record will show how who has provided proof of vaccination.
No Exemptions for Classes
Since BoMA has small class sizes (12 students or less), if one person is unvaccinated, exempt, unable or unwilling to show proof of vaccination this will require all attendees to wear masks for that class. Because the program only permits up to 5% of the individuals within a facility to be unvaccinated, even if those unvaccinated individuals are wearing a mask or otherwise ineligible for the vaccine, if just one unvaccinated person is present in the studio ant any time, all individuals must mask.
No Exemptions for Open Studio
Open studio members who enter and exit at will must make note on the sign in sheet whether or not they are vaccinated. Because the program only permits up to 5% of the individuals within a facility to be unvaccinated, even if those unvaccinated individuals are wearing a mask or otherwise ineligible for the vaccine, if just one unvaccinated person is present in the studio at any time, all individuals must mask.
Fully Vaccinated Class
BoMA may designate a class as a “fully vaccinated class” and will require proof of vaccination in order to attend that class, for example, by only letting students who have provided proof of vaccination to attend that class and instructors who have provided proof of vaccination to teach the class. BoMA may offer other classes where proof of vaccination is not required, but all individuals must mask.
Vaccine Verified Room
Since BoMA has two distinct spaces, we may designate a particular room as a “vaccine verified room.” We will verify the vaccine status of everyone in that room and people in that room may remain maskless as long as everyone who subsequently enters that room provides proof of vaccination.
Other Mitigation Strategies
BoMA has a commercial size HEPA filter, a swamp cooler and a window in each classroom. We also have a door to the outside which opens to both classrooms.

Q: Can a business check my vaccine status before allowing me onto the property?
A: Yes. The federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) does not apply to businesses like retail stores and restaurants because these businesses do not engage in any form of health care activity. It is not a violation of any federal or state law for a business to ask customers about their vaccination status. Customers may voluntarily share this information with a business if they choose to do so. A business may require public health measures (e.g. mask-wearing) if a customer chooses not to share their vaccination status. https://covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine-faq#collapse-accordion-57221-2
